Our Inspiration

Tavora Courtyard started because of a problem no shop in Hyderabad would solve: the room does the opposite of what the animal needs. Summer afternoons in Secunderabad push past 40°C, the monsoon drags humidity to where a desert species starts having shedding trouble, and December nights drop far enough that a leopard gecko stops digesting. Our founder, , kept his first gecko through one of those years and learned that heating was the easy half. Controlling the heat was the half nobody sold.

At the time the small keeper community here passed one thermostat between three houses. Heat mats were everywhere — in pet shops, on marketplaces, sold with no wattage rating and no way to regulate them. A mat with nothing between it and the mains is how tanks get burnt spots. That gap, not a faulty purchase, is why this shop exists.

Our Journey So Far

The first thing we stocked was not a heat mat — it was a thermostat, because that was what people kept asking to borrow. Controllers and dimmers came first, then the mats and ceramic emitters they were meant to govern, then the thermometers and hygrometers that settle arguments about whether a setup is actually working.

Humidity came last and changed the catalogue. Ball pythons, crested geckos and hermit crabs kept in Indian flats need moisture management as much as heat, so misting systems, sphagnum moss and hardwood branches joined the range. Today we ship across India, and most orders come from first- and second-year keepers setting up a tank properly rather than replacing something that failed.

We sell habitat equipment only. We do not trade in live animals, wild-collected species or anything requiring a Wildlife Protection Act permit.

We will not list an unrated heating product just because it is cheaper. Anything that draws mains power and sits against an enclosure has to have a rating plate.

Sensible Packaging

Bulbs and emitters travel in moulded protection, electronics in their manufacturer boxes, substrate sealed against moisture — enough to arrive intact, not more.

Built to Be Replaced Part by Part

We favour equipment where the bulb, the probe or the fitting can be replaced on its own, so one failed component does not mean a new setup.
